Diversity Scholarship Applications Being Accepted – Deadline September 2, 2022
The Diversity Scholarship Program convenes established and emerging leaders in the historic preservation community and allied fields at the annual PastForward conference, hosted each year by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Celebrating 30 years in 2022, the program has provided over 2,500 scholarships to conference participants from historically underrepresented groups. Underrepresented communities include People of Color, including but not limited to Indigenous Peoples, Latinx, Black Americans and others), women, immigrants, LGBTQIA, persons with disabilities, and economically distressed communities. Those who identify with one or more of these underrepresented groups are eligible for the scholarship.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the program, the National Trust is also offering opportunities to participate in bi-monthly convenings which will be held through September 2023. These convenings will provide practical guidance to maximize opportunities with the National Trust and facilitate important networking opportunities with outstanding national leaders from a variety of professions within the wide-ranging movement.
CONFERENCE THEME: MOVING FROM VISION TO ACTION
This past year, preservationists and those in the allied fields of architecture, planning, development, and sustainability came together to share their challenges in addressing some of this country’s most pressing issues. The resulting collaborative agenda, Leading the Change Together, led to the National Trust selecting Moving from Vision to Action as the over-arching theme of this year’s conference. Read more about the theme as well as the sub-themes of Historic Preservation is Climate Action, Encouraging Inclusion and Diversity Through Preservation, and Understanding Preservation’s Role in Real Estate Development.
Please visit the conference webpage to learn more about the conference schedule, guest speakers, and important news. If you have any questions, please let us know.
