US Census Bureau Jobs

Hello Korean American Association of Rhode Island,

My name is Lois Kilsey, I am the recruiting manager for the 2020 Census. During the Census, we will hire hundreds of people from each county of Rhode Island - these are good paying jobs starting at $22.50/hr for field staff and $25/hr for field supervisors.

Many of the jobs are Work from Home positions - people work right in their neighborhood requiring little if any travel. They set their own hours from 20 per week up to 40 per week. Jobs are temporary - from 6 weeks to 18 months. This spring and summer, we will be employing for our second large wave of the operation, enumeration. All the work happens during daylight hours; the work is to complete questionnaires with residents.

No skills are needed. Many folks love the opportunity to work for the US Census since as it is short term, good paying, and allows them to participate in a civic event. Others use it as an opportunity to rejoin the work force, enter US federal government employment, or pay off a bill or two.

The Census requires we employ citizens who represent all segments of our population especially those who speak an additional language to English. Language skills are critical to the Census getting a full and accurate count.  Hence, my request to your organization. Will you assist me in getting the word out about these jobs?  Do you have a newsletter or bulletin board? Would you like someone to come by a meeting or event you are sponsoring to discuss the job opportunities. I have attached a flyer for your convenience detailing pertinent information.  It is important that each member of your organization that applies informs us of languages spoken – this question is asked on the application.

As you know, federal funding flows to the local governments based on many of the findings derived from the US Census results. Your assistance helps your constituents as well as helps your agency. Thank you for your interest.
