The KAARI and Chapter 2 Korean War Veteran of Rhode Island had a joint Memorial Day commemoration on May 31. This event was memorable because it was Chapter 2's last 'official' activity as a group. Many of these veterans are in their 90's.
Over the years, the Korean American Association of Rhode Island (KAARI) has had significant interactions with the Chapter 2 veterans through July 4th Bristol parade and Veterans and Memorial Day ceremonies and year-end parties.
About 10 Korean War veterans and wives, along with KAARI members and guests, attended the ceremony. On KAARI's behalf, President Wonkyung Cho expressed her gratitude for the sacrifices and services that the Chapter 2 veterans have made and reminisced about the happy memories of collaborations and friendships over the years.
After the ceremony, the veterans and KAARI members had lunch at Gregg's restaurant.
Please check out the slide show below, celebrating the long-standing friendship between Chapter 2 Korean War Veterans and Korean Association of Rhode Island (KAARI). This silde show was prepared by KAARI's Treasurer Suzanne Sharkey.
