한국에는 벚꽃이 만개했다지만 프로비던스에는 아직도 추위가 매섭네요. 모두들 감기 조심하시고 가정에 평안이 가득하시길 바랍니다!
이번주 목요일 (4/5) 오후 4시에 브라운 대학교 List Art Building Room 120에서 뜻깊은 행사에 동포분들을 초대하고 싶습니다.
북한에서 출생하시고 6.25 이전에 남한으로 내려오신 후 학업을 위해 미국으로 이주하신 김깁슨 감독님을 초청하고 감독님의 영화 People Are the Sky를 상영할 예정입니다.
감독님께서는 북한을 북핵, 미사일의 관점에서만 보고 2500만 동포들을 놓치는 것이 아쉬워 직접 북한정부의 허락을 받고 북한에서 다큐멘터리 영화를 촬영하셨다고 합니다.
정치와 이념보다는 사람의 관점에서 북한을 바라본다는 점에서 뜻깊은 작품인 것 같습니다!

When you think of North Korea, have you thought about anything besides these? Kim-Gibson, the first and only person authorized by the North Korean government to film inside North Korea, politely but boldly approaches North Koreans on the streets of Pyongyang.
Join us for a screening with Kim-Gibson herself, with an opportunity to ask her questions afterwards. See North Korea from a completely different, humanizing perspective.

90 minute documentary, 2015, directed, produced, written and narrated by Dai Sil Kim-Gibson.
People Are the Sky, Kim-Gibson’s eighth, and most personal film, connects two ideas: the search for home, and the nature of ordinary people, while exploring the evolution of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in relation to the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the USA.
Kim-Gibson was born in North Korea, crossed the 38th parallel in 1945, grew up in Seoul until she came to the US to study in 1962. She subsequently married a Iowa farm boy turned historian. Thus her story has four sides: North and South, Korean and American.
