The 2018 Winter Olympics will be held on February 9, 2018,
in Pyeongchang, Korea. KAARI requested the State of Rhode Island to designate
the month of February 2018 as "PyeongChang South Korea, Winter Olympics
Games Month". On February 6, the State of Rhode Island Senate passed the
resolution (Senate Resolution 18R-50) and delivered it to Thomas Bach, Chairman
of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Four RI state senators James Sheehan, Leonidas Rapkakis,
James Seveney, Cindy Coyne promoted the Declaration, which was unanimously
passed by the Rhode Island Senate. New Boston Consul General Yonghyun Kim visited the Senate
Chamber of Rhode Island to congratulate the PyeongChang Olympic Declaration and
thank the senators.
