The 79th Korea Independence Day Picnic was successfully held on August 11th from 2-5 pm at Tuckertown Park in South Kingstown.
The ceremony, which was moderated by the past KAARI President, Sangwook Ji, included:
Following the welcoming remarks by the KAARI President Angela Sharkey, Consul General Kim Jae-hui of Boston highlighted the Korean War Memorial restoration project in Exeter RI, a significant endeavor that the Korean Association is currently collaborating with Korean Veterans Affair. He also mentioned Annual Korea Day event shcheduled on October 2nd in Providence. Vocalist Hwang Doohyun sang ‘The Longing Geumgangsan’. Finally, everyone sang the Liberation Day song together and the ceremony ended with loud three cheers from Raymond Kim. After that, Pastor Yonghwan Noh held a prayer service and had a meal and fellowship time with Korean food prepared by the Korean Association.
