The 2024 (4357th Year) National Foundation Day event was hosted by the Boston Consulate General and the Rhode Island Korean American Association of Rhode Island (KAARI).
Held on the evening of October 2nd at the Kasper Multipurpose Room at Brown University, it was graced by distinguished guests from Rhode Island and New England communities as well as Brown University students.
The event opened with a performance by the G-Hwaja Band led by Oh Jung-hee. After singing the Korean and US National Anthems, Consul General Kim Jae-hui thanked the guests who attended.
US Congressman Gabe Amo, RI State Senator Linda Ujifusa, RI State Representative Brian Kennedy, Brown University Provost Francis Doyle, and KAARI President Angela Sharkey gave congratulatory remarks.
After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a delightful array of performances. They enjoyed the rhythmic beats of the Brown University Samulnori Team and the vibrant energy of the Daebak K-Pop Team, and then they were treated to a sumptuous Korean buffet dinner.
